Whether it’s biology or preference, I’m a devoted introvert. Music, solitude and studio practice are essential to my sanity.

The most important aspects of painting defy language.

Now, as in other eras of accelerated technological advancements and economic stratification, nature is especially threatened (e.g., fracking). It’s a good time to be neo-Romantic.

Truth is harder to come by than beauty and a lot more interesting. Reduction is the essence of abstraction. Less is more, and more difficult.

It’s uncomplicated. I paint because I love painting.

Quotes that he keeps in mind:

“A picture must not be invented, it must be felt.” -Casper David Friedrich

“Painting is more important than art.” –Willem DeKooning

“And those who were dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music” –Nietzsche
