2011 - Renovated ArtQuest

With support from Marion Stedman Covington Foundation in the amount of $20,000, Green Hill Center unveiled a new art studio which transformed existing studio space into a North Carolina Art Studio. The North Carolina Art Studio featured new creative workstations and storage space, Smart Board technology, artist workshops, and integrated the exhibition programming with ArtQuest programming that was age appropriate with discussions, images and information. Another addition included a new scrap lab featurig the great Bryant Holsenbeck. A North Carolina Studio was directly aligned with Green Hill Center’s mission to exhibit North Carolina Art and present innovative programs that inspire, educate, and engage diverse audiences.

The education staff, executive director and key Board members worked on a strategic plan for education at Green Hill Center for NC Art. The North Carolina Studio within the ArtQuest space was included as a strategic priority. The plan, when completed, was to be reviewed and adopted by the Board of Directors. Upon approval, planning, design, and pre-renovation work was to begin and occur throughout the summer. Actual renovations were to take place in September in preparation for a heavy school tour schedule. The following year, through two grant initiatives, ArtQuest planned to serve 6,200 students from Guilford County Schools. There were also two other exhibit renovations planned and work was to take place during the spring. These renovations were made possible through John Lomax, The Junior League of Greensboro, and Tannenbaum Sternberger Foundation.
