VOLUNTEERING AT GREENHILL
Learn how a community arts organization operates from the inside. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older unless otherwise noted. See descriptions below for more information.

EDUCATION VOLUNTEER | Ages 16 years old + up
- Studios Volunteer | Helps Studio Facilitator in working with children and families in a hands-on, experiential art studio. Open Studio Volunteers help with things like welcoming guests, preparing art materials, organizing the studio and assisting children with the creation of their artwork.
- Summer Camp Volunteer | Helps the Camp Facilitator during weekly summer camps, assists with special projects for the duration of camp, and project prep. Camps run June-August.
CURATORIAL VOLUNTEER
- Research/Archivist | Helps GreenHill to preserve the organization's history and to serve as a resource to artists, educators, and collectors. The Research/Archivist maintains accurate archives of our exhibitions and programs by compiling event-specific folders, image and resource files/libraries.
- Installation Assistant | The installation of exhibitions takes a lot of hard work in a relatively short time period. Installation assistants help with tasks like assembling artworks, setting up lighting, moving pedestals, painting walls, and more.
- The Shop Assistant| The shop at GreenHill is an important showcase for North Carolina artists as well as a great place to shop. Volunteers with art or retail experience help arrange window displays and assist with the general operation of the shop.
MARKETING VOLUNTEER
- Photography | Photographer volunteers document special events, festivals, programs, and receptions. In collaboration with the archivist, the photographer will contribute pictures to the event folders. GreenHill has approximately 20-25 events per year. The volunteer can use their own equipment or use GreenHill's digital camera.
SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEER
- Special Events | GreenHill puts on many special events including; two annual fundraisers, outreach, education and other programs throughout the year. These volunteer positions can last for a single day or for one to three weeks and involve many different kinds of tasks. *Some special event volunteer opportunities are available for those under the age of 18, check with staff for more information.
