Exhibition Tour with Heather Gordon and Matrons and Mistresses Founder Lizzie Cheatham McNairy
GreenHill Center for North Carolina Art presents One Love Response, the first in a series of SHIFT HAPPENS installations by NC artist Heather Gordon. The work was inspired by the "One Love" street mural created by Phillip Marsh after the tragic death of George Floyd and resulting public protests. Gordon reflected: "The street art has such a bold and hopeful presence on the city block. My experience was that the work was reaching for a handshake. I felt it invited me to participate and to respond." Gordon's geometric "world map" outlines an origami folding pattern for the letters O-N-E-L-O-V-E.
SHIFT HAPPENS is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Jane and Richard Levy and Founding Members of the Women's Gateway Circle at GreenHill.
Tuesday October 20 | 12:30-1:30 PM
Phillip Marsh and Heather Gordon will discuss their public artworks on North Davie Street created after recent protests in downtown Greensboro during a Zoom conversation.
