For the fourth time in 30 years, Green Hill Center has been the host institution for this important show; this is not only an honor but also a responsibility to present the work in a manner that highlights the individual artist as well as articulates a cohesive collective view of all eighteen Fellowship recipients. Related programming including films, artist talks, round table discussions and a catalog will accompany the exhibition.

Since its inception in 1980, the North Carolina Fellowship artists have represented the best contemporary artists in the state. The “best” has been defined through a rigorous panel process which, in 2009, included some of the State’s most innovate and talented artists, curators, and art historians. The Fellowship Award provides the recipient the gift of time, materials, and equipment to experiment, and to pursue and create new and innovative work.
