Ann Lynch
GreenHill Curator Edie Carpenter connected with Ann Lynch, a potter and collector in Greensboro:
"Ann Lynch, who always shares her knowledge and encounters with the NC clay community, introduced me to Raine Middleton’s work when she sent an image of a surprise gift from her husband."
Ann described what she loves about her own Middleton piece seen here in her home:
As both a potter and a collector of mostly functional pieces, I am drawn to Raine Middleton’s beautiful ceramics. Her traditional forms, with a contemporary twist, are exquisitely carved using the scraffito technique. My favorite aspect of Raine’s work is the eye-catching addition of a vibrant color that “pops” and draws one’s attention to a smaller section of the entire piece.
My husband wanted to get me something unique and special for my birthday this year. He purchased the piece at In Tandem Gallery in Bakersville, NC. Russ presented the beautiful vase to me filled with an artfully designed flower arrangement from a nearby nursery in Banner Elk. Russ’s “superpower” is that he is a great gift-giver. The carefully selected gift of Raine Middleton’s pottery certainly was the perfect gift and one that will be enjoyed, and used, for years to come.
